Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2014
Richard Morrison was a WW II veteran who enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 at the age of 15. He died last month due to injuries suffered in an incident that happened last June at a VA facility where he was a patient. He was 87 years old. I know a lot of thoroughly decent, dedicated professionals who work in the VA system. This is not about them. This is simply about Richard Morrison. Today is a day set aside to express our gratitude for the sacrifices made by people like him.
Here is something I want to say to liberals: If you want to thank a veteran, commit yourself to the principle of individual self determination. Acknowledge that your future and the future of your children is your responsibility, and only you can protect it. Take charge of your own life, and recognize that the government can’t do it for you.
That principle is the core, the essence of being an American. It is the definition of the Freedom that veterans put their lives on the line to protect. It’s a blessing from the Creator, not a burden. All you need to do to protect that gift is to insist on the right to live your own life on your own terms, with all the risk and responsibility that entails. Time and time again the government has shown that they are not capable of living your life for you, and the bigger they get, the more they prove it.
The socialist parasites who have invaded Washington clearly understand this. All of their protestations about helping people are a cynical subterfuge designed to disguise their real intent, which has nothing to do with helping anyone. It has everything to do with power and control. They understand that individual self reliance is a cultural obstacle that stands in their path. They know that to break that, they have to turn us against each other and break down the traditions that define us as a nation.
To accomplish this, they have to invent issues such as “climate change,” which is a con designed to interfere with the economy by attacking our access to energy. “Political correctness” is intended to silence dissent, and to prevent the free expression of ideas. They insist that the 2nd Amendment is a needless, dangerous anachronism that must be done away with. These kinds of things are presented as solutions to problems, but they are weapons they use to persuade us that we need government to defend us from each other. They know they can’t “transform” the country with brute force, but if we let them, they can do it with lies.
November 4th, just a week ago, America sent the socialists a clear message: “We’re not buying it.” It’s a start. The socialists reaction was predictable: “Lie faster. Lie harder.” They’re not interested in what we think, only in what they need to do to save their cause.
Millions of free Americans understand all this very well. They’re called conservatives. There is no force on earth that can take that Freedom away from a people who understand it. The only way it can fail is if we surrender it ourselves.
So if you want to thank a Veteran for your Freedom, all that’s needed is that we live up to the America they sacrificed for. Richard Morrison and millions of other American Veterans, men and women, deserve that. Your children deserve that.
Do what generations of people in this country have done since it was founded. By your actions, inform the government that they are the servants of the People, not the opposite. There is no middle ground.
To all American Veterans, thank you for your service.
