Cruz Joins the Race
It has been several weeks since I posted anything to Grassroots Commentary, but today appears to be a good day to get back on track. For once there was some good news on all public and social media. Yesterday, Senator Ted Cruz announced that he was going to run for the office of President of the United States. I know there are many who will disagree with me, but this was the best news I’ve heard in a long time. I wish him the best in the many months of campaigning that he is about to enter.
I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. I’m a conservative American Patriot who wishes to see this great country return to the Constitutional form of government that we once had. I see Ted Cruz as a good start in that direction. He has been one of the best voices of reason in the United States Senate since he has been there. His counterpart in the House of Representatives is Trey Gowdy of South Carolina. These two men are not afraid to stand up and fight for the principles of America and the U.S. Constitution. These are the kind of people America needs in positions of leadership.
If Senator Cruz succeeds in gaining the Republican nomination, I hope that he also has the foresight to choose another great American with military experience as his running mate. My first choice in that regard would be the former Representative from Florida, now living in Texas, Lt. Col. Allen West. If that team could be elected, and if Trey Gowdy would then be appointed Attorney General in the Cruz administration, the Constitution of the United States would most likely be once again preserved and protected. That is what is so desperately needed at this point in world history.
Senator Cruz is a true American and there is going to be a powerful liberal uproar that he is not qualified to be President of the United States because he was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. That argument has no basis in fact. While it is true that he was born in Canada, he was born the son of U.S. citizens. Therefore, he held dual citizenship in both Canada and the United States. He is qualified pursuant to the Constitution in the same manner as that of any U.S. citizen born of U.S. citizen parentage in a foreign land. A military brat, for example, who was born while his father, mother, or both parents were serving in the Armed Forces of the United States while overseas cannot and should not be denied the opportunity to become President of the United States. It is no different with regard to the citizenship of Senator Cruz. Furthermore, Senator Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship, even though he didn’t have to, as a means of showing his true allegiance is with the United States. He cannot be denied.
So wake up and ride, America. There is a new, bright and shining light in the southern skies, a new hope for America, and his name is Ted Cruz. God speed, Senator, God speed.
