If there’s one thing about the Marxist left, it is that they will always provide you with lots of opportunities to evidence their delusion. Perhaps some of you recall the song by Led Zeppelin from whence I draw the title of this week’s Colonel’s Constitutional Brief. I am starting to believe that the ease with which one can obliterate a leftist in a debate is because they are in a state of being dazed and confused. And when they realize it, they resort to loudness and name-calling.

Just recently, the executive editor of Variety magazine, Michael Schneider, called on TV producers in America to “hold up a mirror” to show our “plunge into fascism”. Schneider’s comments come just before the 2025 Emmy Awards. He claims that TV writers and producers cannot “sugarcoat” how “our rights are continually under attack”. Truthfully, Schneider is not upset about our rights being under attack…he is upset that Marxist leftists are not in control. I would love to debate Mr. Schneider about his “dazed and confused” article and position.

Let’s talk about rights being under attack.

I seem to remember that during the Biden “autopen” administration, there was, admittedly so, collusion with Big Tech to censor speech, thoughts, insights, and perspectives of American citizens. There was even an endeavor to create a federal government agency in the Department of Homeland Security that dealt with “disinformation.” If there was any evidence of a “plunge into fascism,” that is it. Fascism is censorship. Not to mention how Churches were told to shut down and not hold services, yet McDonald’s stayed open. That is a violation of our first liberty, the freedom of religion and the free exercise thereof…all under the guise of Covid.

Speaking of Covid, a real plunge into fascism, where does the government have the right to order healthy citizens to stay inside their own homes? Shut down businesses? Arrest people for paddleboarding alone on the ocean? Forcing people to take a shot under penalty of losing their job? Threatening the arrest of people who did not wear a mask in outdoor spaces? Or worse, trying to force children to take a shot? Oh, by the way, when did the federal government gain the power to force biological males into female private spaces and sports?

It appears to me that the best way to “plunge into fascism” is to restrict the right of law-abiding citizens to be armed. History proves that fact. Perhaps Mr. Schneider should study and see that Adolf Hitler advocated for gun registration, which led to gun confiscation, and we know why. Even Hugo Chavez did the same in Venezuela; we see how that worked out. Here in America, the only folks ranting about gun control and undermining our Second Amendment rights are the dazed and confused Marxist leftists…like Michael Schneider.

Mr. Schneider rants about authoritarianism that law enforcement and the military have been unleashed in American cities. Hmm, where was this dazed and confused executive editor of Variety magazine when Joe Biden was unleashing millions of illegal immigrants into our Country in violation of our Constitution, undermining our national sovereignty, domestic security, and national security? Schneider obviously embraces the ideology of open borders and cares little about the safety of Americans, including the three who lost their lives to a criminal, illegal immigrant truck driver in Florida.

This whole leftist message about masked ICE officers being terrorists kidnapping people off the streets is insidious. These are our law enforcement officers tasked with deporting illegal immigrants, who must protect their identity because the real fascists are threatening them and their families. Maybe Schneider is fine with the tragic death of young three-year-old Honesty Cheadle in Washington, DC, shot by a stray bullet from gang members. It is not a “plunge into fascism” to create safety and security in our urban city communities, mainly run by the Democrats, the real fascists, and where you find the MOST stringent gun control laws. Criminals disregard gun control laws.

Lastly, I am sure that Michael Schneider is all in for Zohran Mamdani, the Marxist/Islamic jihadist candidate for Mayor in New York City. Mamdani advocates for policies such as government control of the means of production, government rent control, favors harboring criminal illegal immigrants, and is a virulent anti-Semite who supports Islamic terrorist organizations—a real example of a “plunge into fascism”. When the government is telling you what you can eat and where you can buy it, well, that is pure Marxism, socialism, communism, fascism…Mamdani is running as a Democrat and has a personal animus towards President Trump.

Leftists like Michael Schneider, the executive editor of Variety magazine, are dazed and confused, and his recent article is glaring proof. Did Schneider not believe that a government telling you what type of shower head, how much toilet water to flush, what type of stove, what type of dishwasher, what type of car, banning Big Gulp drinks is not a “plunge into socialism?” Schneider is just another member of the creed of ignorance that is trying to project onto others what he truly is: a fascist. The Marxist left in America is flailing, and its arguments are as weak as pond water. Any political opposition to their ideological agenda must be denigrated, demonized, and disparaged because they cannot win anyone over on the merits of their ideals.

Mr. Schneider, it was Barack Obama who sought to silence journalists…ask James Rosen. DEI? That is nothing but cultural Marxism, a means to divide us into so-called oppressor vs oppressed. Assault on higher learning institutions? When these leftist Marxist incubators and petri dishes for statism embrace Islamic jihadism at the peril of other students and harbor supporters of a terrorist organization, Hamas, they should be called out. Sir, erase the ugly truths about our country’s history? History is there for us to learn from, good, bad, and ugly. Tearing down statues is the essence of fascism. And Mr. Schneider, why did the cancel culture crowd tear down the statue of Frederick Douglass in Rochester, NY and deface the monument to the first black unit to serve America in uniform, the 54th Massachusetts Regiment?

I am sure Michael Schneider is good friends with the criminal, illegal immigrant Abrego Garcia, an MS-13 gang member, spouse abuser, and human trafficker. Deporting someone like this vermin is not authoritarian, nor fascist. It is about the rule of law and protecting law-abiding American citizens. But, Sir, keep writing stuck on stupid articles like this. It will ensure that America continues its plunge back to the rule of law and constitutional conservatism.
