Consoler-in-Chief
President Trump and his family went to Pittsburgh Tuesday. They visited the synagogue where anti-Semite Robert Bowers murdered 11 innocent Jewish worshippers and they visited the hospital where Jewish doctors and nurses treated the injured, including Bowers.
President Trump and his family went to Pittsburgh Tuesday. They visited the synagogue where anti-Semite Robert Bowers murdered 11 innocent Jewish worshippers and they visited the hospital where Jewish doctors and nurses treated the injured, including Bowers.
President Trump did exactly what a president should do. He was America’s consoler-in-chief. According to Jewish burial tradition, the president left a stone on each of the markers representing the 11 people who were brutally murdered at the Tree of Life synagogue.
It was particularly poignant to watch because this was not only the First Family of America, but half of the First Family members there to mourn this anti-Semitic atrocity are Jews themselves.
At the hospital, President Trump met privately with doctors and first responders. There were no cameras. While there, he spent nearly an hour with Peg Gottfried, widow of Dr. Richard Gottfried.
That is how the president, who is constantly smeared as intolerant, handled this atrocity caused by a killer who hated Jews and Donald Trump.
What About the “Tolerant” Crowd?
So what was the “tolerant” crowd in Pittsburgh doing?
Rabbi Jeffrey Myers was on CNN recently and the host attempted to bait him into blaming Trump. Rabbi Myers didn’t fall for it. Asked if Trump was welcome to visit the synagogue, Myers answered:
“The president of the United States is always welcome. I’m a citizen. He’s my president. He is certainly welcome.”
Tuesday, the rabbi sounded as if he was retreating from that generous statement, and he was clear as to why. He said he received terrible backlash. The really sad thing is that the backlash was filled with hate — the very thing we’re trying to fight.
So this progressive rabbi got a taste of what anyone who dares to defend normal values regularly receives, and it nearly caused him to fold.
Meanwhile, thousands of “tolerant” people demonstrated against the president’s visit, while he was doing exactly what any president should be doing.
Bend the Arc, a radical left-wing group, issued a statement saying President Trump was not welcome in Pittsburgh. (More on this group below.)
The Democrat mayor of Pittsburgh and the Democrat governor of Pennsylvania refused to join the president and the rabbi at the synagogue. To them it was more important to be seen “resisting” Trump than standing with the president of the United States in this time of crisis in their community.
Consider this: President Obama regularly smeared law enforcement and supported the Black Lives Matter movement, which engaged in anti-police rhetoric.
After a hate-filled killer opened fire on police during an anti-police demonstration in Dallas, killing five police officers and wounding nine others, there was a memorial service for the slain officers.
Barack Obama spoke at the service. Texas is a conservative state. But there were no demonstrations against Obama’s visit, and no leading Republican in Texas refused to attend the service.
The contrast couldn’t be more stark.
Bend the Arc
This group says it is a Jewish group, but it is actually just another left-wing group. Commentator Ben Shapiro, who is Jewish, wrote this about the organization:
“So, is Bend The Arc really a group of ‘Jewish leaders’? Only in name. The group is merely a Leftist political action group with a Jewish label. Their stated mission is ‘rising up in solidarity with everyone threatened by the Trump agenda…’ Their missions include the election of ‘progressive champions’ and the implementation of ‘progressive legislation and policies.’”
Shapiro goes on to explain who’s behind the group:
“Who runs Bend The Arc? Alexander Soros, George Soros’ son. When he started the PAC, Politico noted, ‘Soros, who formed his own foundation in 2012 to promote social justice and human rights, has given $1.2 million to Democratic candidates and groups in the last three elections.’ (It should be noted here that criticism of the political viewpoint of major Democratic donors is not anti-Semitism; it is normal politics.)”
Shapiro is correct. The Right and the Left have attacked big money billionaires by name forever. But suddenly any criticism of Soros’ disproportionate influence is being held up as evidence of anti-Semitism.
Well, does that make Benjamin Netanyahu an anti-Semite? Israel’s prime minister has regularly called out Soros for promoting organizations with blatant anti-Israel agendas.
Criminals & Caravans
Yet another migrant caravan has formed in Central America. That makes a total of three now headed north toward our southern border.
The Democrat Party, its media allies, and some #NeverTrumpers have condemned the president for stating the obvious — that there are criminals in these caravans. Perhaps some enterprising journalists from the “mainstream media” should take a closer look at what is happening in these caravans.
There have been numerous violent clashes with authorities. So many, in fact, that Gonzalo Martinez preferred going back to Honduras over staying in the “unruly” caravan.
People in the migrant march have said that there are criminals among them.
Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S. is warning that some of them are “very violent.”
One marcher admitted that he was deported from the U.S. for attempted murder.
Two marchers were arrested for shooting at Mexican police officers.
A Mexican immigration office was firebombed.
All of this proves that the president is right, and he is right to warn about our porous borders and our weak immigration laws, especially during an era of surging immigration levels.
We cannot tolerate this scam of a system that allows migrants to disappear into the country simply because they make a claim of asylum, especially when we know that the overwhelming majority of them are not legitimate refugees.
We also know that the vast majority of marchers are not women and children.
On another note, President Trump “triggered” progressives everywhere with his call to end birthright citizenship. Well, let’s play a little game. Who said this?
“If making it easy to be an illegal alien isn’t enough, how about offering a reward for being an illegal immigrant? No sane country would do that, right? Guess again. If you break our laws by entering this country without permission and give birth to a child, we reward that child with U.S. citizenship and guarantee a full access to all public and social services this society provides.”
If you guessed Donald Trump, try again.
Ted Cruz? Wrong.
Rush Limbaugh? Nope.
That was former Senate Democrat Leader Harry Reid.
By the way, that well-known immigration hard-liner Sen. Lindsey Graham (SARCASM ALERT!) is on board with President Trump’s desire to restore some common sense to our immigration policies.
