Promoting Infanticide
The radical left has been promoting abortion for decades. But even though the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to late-term abortions, pro-abortion politicians are now promoting what amounts to infanticide.
The radical left has been promoting abortion for decades. But even though the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to late-term abortions, pro-abortion politicians are now promoting what amounts to infanticide.
We saw it last week when so-called “progressives” celebrated the repeal of New York’s ban on late-term abortions. It was revolting, but not surprising, coming from left-wing New York. Now Delegate Kathy Tran (D) of Virginia has introduced a bill that would permit abortion up to the point of birth.
Under questioning from Del. Todd Gilbert (R), Tran acknowledged, “I don’t think we have a limit in the bill.”
Gilbert pressed further, asking Tran if a woman who was “dilating” and about to give birth could still request an abortion. Tran answered, “My bill would allow that, yes.” (You can watch the exchange here.)
By any definition this is infanticide. And why stop at birth? On what moral basis can the left say that if a mother gets depressed 24 hours later, she can’t change her mind and be allowed to kill her baby then?
In fact, some so-called “ethicists” have been arguing for years that babies aren’t fully human and that it should be legal to kill them weeks after birth!
The pro-life movement has been attempting to push back the acceptance of abortion thanks to medial progress on the issue of viability. But the strategy works in reverse too. The pro-abortion movement knows that if an abortion after the fifth month is unacceptable, an abortion 24 hours before the fifth month is just as unacceptable.
If an abortion is okay after 20 weeks, why not when the mother is dilating and the baby is beginning to crown? And there isn’t much of a difference 24 hours later.
Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D), a pediatric neurologist before entering politics, was asked yesterday whether he would support Delegate Tran’s abortion-at-birth bill. His rambling response strongly implied that he would.
Erasing Normalcy
I have often commented about the left’s war on normalcy. But in the weeks since the election, in which scores of extremists were elected to public office and nearly two dozen progressives have been running to undo everything Donald Trump has done, we have seen and heard many revealing things.
In New York and Virginia, we have seen the left do everything it can to erase any sense of the unborn child’s humanity.
We have seen from Kamala Harris and others a desire to erase the entire insurance industry and any health insurance policy that you own or have through your employer.
We watched in amazement as someone in Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s office erased Israel from the map. (More on her below.)
The radical left and their globalist allies want to erase our borders.
Progressives also tried to erase God from the oath taken by congressional witnesses. It’s outrageous but not surprising. These are the same people who booed the inclusion of God and Jerusalem in the 2012 Democratic platform.
They have been on a jihad to erase gender differences.
They want to erase free market capitalism and replace it with big government socialism.
This is where the energy is in today’s progressive Democrat Party. I do not see how any Never Trumper on the right can be oblivious to what they are risking by continuing to undermine the president.
Anti-Semitism In Congress
Two weeks ago, we told you about the disturbing relationship between Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Hezbollah supporter Abbas Hamideh, who has declared that Israel has no right to exist. Unfortunately, an investigation has uncovered yet another radical anti-Semite in Tlaib’s closet.
According to The Daily Caller, Tlaib is a member of the Facebook group, “Palestinian American Congress.” The posts are full of raw anti-Semitism. A year ago, Maher Abdel-qader posted a video on the Palestinian American Congress page that referred to Jews as “satanic” and questioned the Holocaust.
It turns out that Abdel-qader is a major fundraiser for Tlaib. He also spoke at campaign events for her and even worked at a polling location for her during the Democrat primary.
There is no way elected officials in Michigan were ignorant about Tlaib’s extremism. I doubt DNC officials were clueless. Any conservative official who was a member of a group that espoused such a degree of hatred would be driven out of office within 24 hours. Incredibly, Democrat leaders are defending Tlaib.
She should be stripped from her committees and reasonable Democrats should denounce her.
Record Cold
A polar vortex is slamming into the country, causing temperatures to plummet to record lows. The high temperature in Chicago is -15 degrees. Some parts of the country are facing wind chills of -75. Six states are reportedly colder than the South Pole.
Monday evening, President Trump triggered liberals everywhere when he tweeted, “What the hell is going on with Global Warming? Please come back fast, we need you!”
Joking aside, there are serious issues at stake in the debate over environmental policy. The left has embraced the climate change mantra as yet another power grab for bigger government and socialist redistribution of wealth.
The left’s “Green New Deal” is a terrible idea that will increase energy costs on everything from heating bills to your pain at the pump. And for what?
While the left insists that the “science is settled,” their track record on past predictions has been absolutely abysmal. Whenever the left starts hyperventilating about climate change, I always go back to one of my favorite columns by the great Walter Williams. Consider this excerpt:
“Here are my questions: In 1970, when environmentalists were making predictions of manmade global cooling and the threat of an ice age and millions of Americans starving to death, what kind of government policy should we have undertaken to prevent such a calamity?
"When Ehrlich predicted that England would not exist in the year 2000, what steps should the British Parliament have taken in 1970 to prevent such a dire outcome? In 1939, when the U.S. Department of the Interior warned that we only had oil supplies for another 13 years, what actions should President Roosevelt have taken?
"Finally, what makes us think that environmental alarmism is any more correct now that they have switched their tune to manmade global warming?”
