Gov’t Eagle Slaughter
A new study gives a preliminary estimate on the number of eagles killed via wind farms.
A new study reveals that, dating back to 1997, wind farms have resulted in 85 eagle fatalities throughout 10 states. More recently, “Wind energy facilities have killed at least 67 golden and bald eagles in the last five years,” reports the Associated Press.
However, the AP adds, “[S]cientists said their figure is likely to be ‘substantially’ underestimated, since companies report eagled deaths voluntarily and only a fraction of those included in their total were discovered during searches for dead birds by wind-energy companies.”
Just taking into account these lowball estimates we find that nearly 80% of these iconic eagles have perished under the Obama administration. You can thank Mr. Obama’s massive expansion of wind farms for that.
But don’t expect any felony charges.
