Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian disaster-relief charity, set up a 68-bed respiratory field hospital in Central Park to handle the overflow from Mt. Sinai Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some New Yorkers tell Gothamist.com they’re leery because the Christian organization employs Christians to deliver on their medical mission of mercy — not only motivated to share the gospel of Jesus Christ but with an anti-gay and/or Islamaphobic agenda.
