The Root Causes of School Shootings

Why would sociopathic youth value human life in a culture that disrespects and despises life?

The murder of two adults and two children at Apalachee High School in Georgia evoked the familiar Democrat vs. Republican discussion on firearms. It’s unfortunate that when these rare but high-profile attacks occur, Democrats refuse to consider the root causes that drive some sociopathic youth to commit atrocious crimes. The failure to address the root causes of such violence assures it will recur.

An interesting point that conservatives note is that America has always been an armed nation, but mass shooting on campuses are a modern phenomena. What has changed?

Our country’s morality and culture have gone downhill. Everyone has their own “truth,” and the value of human life has been devalued to the point where abortion is worshiped and self-euthanasia is accepted. Why would our youth value human life when our own leaders have created a culture that disrespects and despises life?

Our families are broken. The role of the father has been diminished, leaving men with the liberty to create children without the intention of raising them. The role of single motherhood has been put on a pedestal, deceiving women into believing that their child doesn’t need a father because she can be sufficient without him. In the end, these children lose out on the biological necessity of a two-parent household, leaving them with wounds and trauma that nobody deserves to carry.

Children are being raised by employees, not parents. Due to our anti-family government, many families are left with no choice but to have two working parents in the home. Unfortunately, this means that the children are left to be raised by nannies and daycares. Then the child enters public school for the next 12 years, leaving parents with little time to spend with their children.

The foods we consume and our medical system are poisoning children. Our country has an alarming number of children on medications for conditions like ADHD, depression, anxiety, and obesity. The medications, coupled with highly processed foods containing questionable ingredients, do have an effect on children, and it’s not a good one. Many medications include dangerous side effects such as violent behavior and suicidal thoughts. The dyes in our food can also cause behavioral issues that impact a child’s psyche.

The heavy use of technology has deprived children of their innocence. It has become common to see children as young as two with phones or iPads. While this can be convenient for the parent, it comes at the expense of their child’s innocence. When left unsupervised, a child could access anything on their devices. Predators use this to their advantage and lure children while playing online games or watching innocent videos on YouTube.

While this may sound depressing, the good news is that we don’t need to rely on the government to fix these issues for us. Each family is responsible for what happens in their home. Change can be as simple as picking up a cookbook, going to your local farmers market, and cooking a meal as a family (your children included). Parents can start asking questions when they go to their pediatrician and ask to see the full list of ingredients and side effects of recommended medications. A family can downsize, downgrade, or budget to have the mother stay at home with the children. Parents can read the ingredients of the foods they buy and decide what goes into the food cart. Becoming engaged in your child’s education is a game changer for both the children and the teachers. Putting restrictions and time limits on devices can greatly reduce the negative side effects of the devices we put in our children’s hands.

Unfortunately, the government is not here to save us, and we must not wait for it to create changes that will last generations to come.
