They said if we voted for Donald Trump, democracy and Rule of Law would die in darkness.

Cue President Joe “Return to Normalcy” Biden to violate his oft-repeated pledge that “I will not pardon” his son, Hunter Biden. Politicized pardons are normal, but a pardon for a president’s child is a first. And seven weeks before he leaves the White House, it’s yet another middle finger to America.

“Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Joe Biden announced yesterday in a statement authorizing “A Full and Unconditional Pardon” of all offenses Hunter “has committed or may have committed” over an entire decade from 2014 to 2024.

Remember that Biden also dropped out of the presidential race on a Sunday afternoon. This time, he chose Sunday to ensure that his crackhead, gun-felon, tax-evading, influence-peddling son never faces justice. Hunter faced up to 25 years on the gun conviction, and he pleaded guilty to multiple tax evasion charges in September.

The president even had the audacity to play the victim. “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted,” the (very) elder Biden complained. “Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.”

He absurdly asserted, “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son.”

Give me a break! That’s a bunch of malarkey!

It is true that “Hunter was treated differently,” but it’s exactly the opposite of what Biden means. Normal people don’t sell their family name overseas, capitalizing on their dad being vice president. Normal people aren’t offered sweetheart plea deals for multiple serious felonies because their dad is now president. By the way, that plea deal came after years of U.S. Attorney and then Special Counsel David Weiss slow-walking charges to try to run out the statute of limitations.

And Biden only “kept his word” until he didn’t.

Indeed, it’s almost unbelievable that he concluded his statement with this whopper: “For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth.” Like most of the things that come out of his mouth, that is a bald-faced lie. No one believed Biden when he promised multiple times not to pardon his son because he’s a pathological liar.

On September 6, I began an article with a prediction:

Joe Biden promised not to pardon his son, Hunter, for either his gun crimes (for which he was convicted earlier this summer) or his tax evasion. Joe Biden is also a liar and a corrupt beneficiary of his son’s influence peddling, so while he may well wait until after Election Day on November 5, don’t expect his promise to hold all the way through 11:59 a.m. on January 20, 2025.

Back to Biden’s ridiculous statement, do you know who else was “treated differently”? Donald Trump. He — and only he — was prosecuted and convicted of 34 felonies in New York for infractions that would have been, at worst, a couple of misdemeanors for anyone not named Donald Trump. Heck, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has already made a career of releasing criminals and downgrading felony charges. Just not for Trump.

That is, of course, one of many examples of the Left’s lawfare against the former president.

That’s not the only hypocrisy and two-tiered justice here. Lying on a background check for a gun purchase is a crime, but it glaringly highlights Biden’s double standard. This is Mr. Gun Confiscation himself — the president who, among other things, routinely rails about “universal background checks” as a favorite tool to restrict Second Amendment rights. Yet he excludes his son from a standard he wants to expand.

It’s also worth remembering that the tax evasion occurred on income “earned” by peddling influence via the Biden name. Joe Biden is one corrupt old man, and his son helped him do it. The end result is that they’ll both get away with it, and that ought to stick in the craw of every decent American.

Footnote: Naturally, the Leftmedia covered for Biden by attacking Republicans’ reactions. Politico used the phrase that became so ubiquitous it’s now a meme: “Republicans pounce.” NBC News and Axios at least found a thesaurus, headlining respectively, “Republicans fume” and “Republicans rage.” To them, the story isn’t that Hunter Biden flagrantly broke the law and then Joe Biden shamelessly broke his promise not to interfere. It’s that Republicans think that’s lousy behavior.
