Hate in the Heartland

An American citizen who served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) was targeted in Clayton, Missouri. This is what “Globalize the Intifada” means.

There was a disgusting hate crime this week in the St. Louis suburb of Clayton, Missouri, that is not getting the attention it deserves. A home was vandalized, and three family cars were set on fire.

Why was the home targeted? The man who lives there with his family is an American citizen who served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). “Death to the IDF” was spray-painted outside the home.

This is what “Globalize the Intifada” means. The intifada is the series of violent Palestinian uprisings against Israel. Radical Islamists want that violence against Jews to take place everywhere. Just look at what we have witnessed in recent weeks:

  • Jews were set on fire in Boulder, Colorado.
  • Two young Jewish Israeli embassy workers were murdered in downtown Washington, D.C., by a raving antisemite.
  • The leading candidate for mayor of New York City refused to condemn the phrase “Globalize the Intifada.”

When similar events took place during the Biden years, the White House would issue statements about how antisemitism and Islamophobia must end, as if every antisemitic attack had something to do with Islamophobia.

It has nothing to do with Islamophobia. There are no roving gangs of Jews and Christians attacking Muslims.

According to the FBI, nearly 70% of all religiously motivated hate crimes last year were committed against Jews—not Muslims. In fact, religiously motivated hate crimes against Muslims actually fell last year.

Leo Terrell, chairman of the Justice Department’s Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, responded forcefully to the news of this outburst of hate in Clayton, Missouri, saying:

“I am outraged. Antisemitic violence has no place in America, not in St. Louis and not anywhere. We will pursue every avenue to bring the perpetrators to justice. If you commit antisemitic hate crimes, you will be caught. And you will be held accountable.”
