Tuesday: Below the Fold

Trump threatens mail-in ballots and voting machines, largest-ever immigrant detention center opens in TX, 6K student visas nullified, illegal alien kills three, and more.

  • Trump threatens mail-in ballots, voting machines: “I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly ‘Inaccurate,’ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES, which cost Ten Times more than accurate and sophisticated Watermark Paper, which is faster, and leaves NO DOUBT, at the end of the evening, as to who WON, and who LOST, the Election,” Donald Trump posted on Truth Social yesterday. The president announced he was beginning a nationwide effort to end mail-in voting. The trouble Trump faces is the Constitution, as it gives the individual states the authority to make rules regarding how they conduct elections. Trump already issued an executive order regarding how and when mail-in ballots are counted.

  • Largest-ever immigrant detention center opens in Texas: The “Lone Star Lockup” is a migrant detention center that the Trump administration recently opened to detain illegal aliens as they are processed for deportation. Located at a site on U.S. Army base Fort Bliss, near El Paso, Texas, the facility currently has 1,000 beds and is slated to become the “largest-ever” with a plan to expand it to 5,000 by 2027. Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn, who visited the facility last week, said, “This is a place where up to a thousand criminal aliens will be detained pending their repatriation or return to their country of origin.” He added, “We’re not talking about gardeners, housekeepers, or people like that. We’re talking about as many as 291,000 individuals who are called criminal aliens with criminal charges pending or criminal convictions who have exhausted all of their legal remedies.”

  • 6,000 student visas nullified: The State Department has revoked more than 6,000 student visas this year. The Trump administration has made headlines focusing on removing foreign students who promote anti-Semitism and terrorism. According to a senior State Department official, “About 4,000 visas alone have been revoked because these visitors broke the law while visiting our country, including records of assault and DUIs.” Others had their visas revoked due to overstaying their expiry date. Thus far, the Trump administration has pulled roughly 40,000 visas in 2025 compared to 16,000 by the Biden administration this time last year. In May, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told lawmakers, “We’re going to continue to revoke the visas of people who are here as guests and are disrupting our higher education facilities.”

  • Illegal alien gains commercial driver’s license, kills three: Harjinder Singh crossed the U.S. southern border illegally in 2018, gained a work authorization from President Joe Biden in 2021, and killed three with third-world driving practices in 2025. Singh attempted to make an illegal U-turn on the Florida Turnpike using an “Official Use Only” lane, blocked all northbound lanes, and killed three in a minivan that could not avoid his semi-truck. In the video of the incident, Singh does not show any remorse or distress despite his fatal mistake. The “RapidResponse47” account on X was quick to mention that the State of California granted Singh his commercial driver’s license. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press account tried to deflect blame, going so far as to blame the second Trump administration for not revoking his work permit.

  • Desperate Hamas attempts to buy more time: Hamas, the terrorist group elected to leadership in Gaza, has agreed to a ceasefire it had previously rejected. Israel has announced its plan to take over all of Gaza City and will only be stopped if Hamas releases all of the prisoners and disarms. Prompted by fear of the plan, Hamas accepted an Egyptian-Qatari ceasefire proposal that calls for 10 living hostages and 18 dead bodies to be returned to Israel in return for the release of hundreds of convicted Hamas fighters. Israel and President Donald Trump have said piecemeal deals are not working and are calling for the total surrender and destruction of Hamas. Hamas’s useful idiots in the West continue to propagandize on its behalf. For example, Mahmoud Khalil spoke to the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative despite his support for Hamas, which rapes and murders women at every opportunity.

  • DNC having money problems: The Democrat Party’s lack of clear leadership and political direction has been costing it not just at the polls but also financially. Following Donald Trump and the Republicans’ sweeping election victory in 2024, the Democratic National Committee should be champing at the bit to reorganize and hit back at Republicans. Historically, the party out of power generally has the advantage going into midterm elections. However, Democrat donors see the party as “rudderless, off message and leaderless,” which has translated into a donation slump. Currently, the Republican National Committee is enjoying a sizable money advantage over the DNC, with the RNC holding $80 million in cash compared to the DNC’s $15 million. A report released Monday showed that major Democrat donors have “withheld money this year amid skepticism about the party’s direction,” and small-dollar donors “are not growing nearly enough to make up the gap.” The DNC’s problem is mostly self-inflicted.

  • FTC drops lawsuit against Grand Canyon University: The FTC has dropped a lawsuit against Grand Canyon University launched by the Biden administration that alleged deceptive pricing for its doctoral courses. The two-year-old case had already faced multiple legal setbacks, with courts consistently siding with the school. GCU President Brian Mueller says this case and the five investigations launched by the Biden administration were ideologically driven and meant to punish the influential Christian organization. The Trump administration in May had already revoked a $37.7 million fine that dwarfed other Biden-era fines against Penn State and Michigan State for sexual abuse. In November 2024, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the administration had improperly rejected the school’s 2019 switch from profit to nonprofit status.

  • DC residents report favorably on crime crackdown: One DC resident reports that the strongman tactics and racially motivated police actions she feared are not happening; instead, troublemakers are being taken off the streets, and safe spaces are being created. Given the attitude and behavior of the agents in the Congress Heights neighborhood, Robbie Woodland of Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8C says, “We’re all for that” (paywall). One DC man considered quitting his job after a gang of 30 teenagers ransacked his tobacco store and police took 45 minutes to respond earlier this month. Now he says the federal agents are deterring the teen mobs and protecting his store. A 32-year Columbia Heights resident said it best: “The government has to apply the law.”
