Thursday Executive News Summary

Omar refuses to turn over records, Tennessee unveils new district map, Virginia senate prez raided, Epstein’s “suicide note” released, and more.

  • Omar and MN fraud: Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar has refused to turn over records from her congressional office regarding communications with Aimee Bock, who was convicted of federal fraud charges tied to the $250 million Feeding Our Future scam. According to available records, members of Omar’s office were in regular communication with Bock, and Republican members of Minnesota’s House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee want to determine whether Omar was complicit. State Rep. Kristin Robbins noted that Omar led the way in March 2020 in getting the MEALS Act passed, which “took the guardrails off the federal school nutrition program, which created the conditions for Feeding Our Future.” Furthermore, Omar personally stumped for Safari Restaurant, a primary player in the fraud scheme. A committee vote to subpoena Omar for these records fell short of the necessary two-thirds majority.

  • Tennessee unveils new district map: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais, Tennessee has joined a group of southern states in redistricting out the racist majority-minority districts that the previous understanding of the Voting Rights Act forced on them. Gov. Bill Lee called the state assembly into special session on Friday to redraw the map, and a proposed option that eliminates the black-majority district in Memphis was released on Wednesday. If this map passes, it will likely eliminate the Volunteer State’s only Democrat congressional seat and leave Rep. Steve Cohen without a job.

  • Katie Porter lets the cat out of the bag: Democrat gubernatorial candidates in California are naturally pro-illegal immigrant, but Katie Porter is pushing the envelope. When asked whether she would work with federal authorities to deport illegals if she were elected governor, she responded, “The job of the California governor is to protect every single Californian.” Evidently, she doesn’t care that an illegal alien is not a citizen of the state in which they reside. She went further, defending illegals as “one of the only ways that our state has been growing in recent years.” She is, of course, correct that California has not been growing very much recently, and that little growth is due to illegal migration, which tends to happen when you’ve driven all of the producers and wealth creators out of your state.

  • Virginia senate prez raided: Yesterday, FBI agents raided the Portsmouth office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, a major player in the commonwealth’s Democrat political scene and a close ally of Gov. Abigail Spanberger. At the same time, an FBI SWAT team also descended on a cannabis dispensary co-owned by Lucas, arresting at least three people. Lucas claimed she had no idea what the FBI was after. She has long been an advocate for the legalization of marijuana, cosponsoring a bill to do so in Virginia in 2021. Most recently, Lucas was a major player in pushing the heavily gerrymandered redistricting map that eliminated all but one Republican-majority district in the state. According to Virginia State Delegate Wren Williams, “Rumors of corruption and pay-to-play politics have long surrounded the Democratic Party’s infrastructure in Virginia. However, no one has been willing to do anything to hold these power brokers accountable.”

  • Epstein’s “suicide note” released: A suicide note supposedly written by the infamous Jeffrey Epstein was released to the public yesterday. “They investigated me for month — found NOTHING!!!” reads the barely legible note. It adds something about 15-year-old charges and concludes with, “It is a treat to be able to choose one’s time to say goodbye. Watcha want me to do — Burst out cryin!! NO FUN — NOT WORTH IT!!” U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas released the note after a request from The New York Times. The DOJ has stated it is unable to determine the note’s authenticity. The debatable authenticity may be why this note was not included in the massive Epstein file releases in recent months.

  • Gas prices top $4.50: Gas prices have risen again, hitting a national average of $4.55 per gallon. This is the highest price since July 2022. Prices at the pump have increased 52% since immediately prior to the Iran operation. The ongoing dispute over the Strait of Hormuz, which has largely prevented shipping, has negatively impacted global oil and natural gas supplies. Concern over the lack of a long-term solution has kept prices high. Yet on Wednesday, after President Donald Trump said a deal with Iran was near, oil prices dropped as much as 15%, down to $88 per barrel, while the stock markets surged. This suggests that if the U.S. and Iran reach a deal to end the conflict, oil and gas prices should drop quickly.

  • Norway hits reverse: When energy is in short supply, placating the climate cult suddenly takes a back seat. The latest example of this comes from Norway, where Oslo announced it would soon reopen three of its offshore oil and gas fields. It had closed down these fossil fuel resources back in 1998, but now, given the global energy situation and Europe’s needs, Norway will go back to the well. Ignoring the Net Zero pipe dream, Oslo recognizes that there’s still much profit to be made from these neglected resources. As Energy Minister Terje Aasland stated, “Norwegian production of oil and gas is an important contribution to energy security in Europe.” Once again, Donald Trump’s “drill, baby, drill” has been proven right.

  • Will Nick Fuentes and Hasan Piker team up? The political theory that puts communism on the Left and fascism on the Right is flawed; both systems are on the Left. Now, American Nazism’s most infamous supporter, Nick Fuentes, is proving us right by declaring himself a “non-woke moderate Democrat.” Of course, Fuentes is not actually an ideological friend of Kamala Harris; he wants to side with the Democrats to burn down the Republican Party and install his preferred party in its place, presumably one that is openly white supremacist. In the meantime, Fuentes’s switch puts the Democrats in a tricky position. Is Fuentes an acceptable voice or not? And if he is not, why is his fascist message unacceptable but Hasan Piker’s openly communist message is fine? Republicans can enjoy watching Democrats flounder with those questions.
