Storming the Beaches of ... the Mall
No barricades are stopping these wheelchairs.
A group of World War II veterans from Mississippi wasn’t going to let a little government shutdown get in their way when visiting the World War II Memorial at the DC Mall. Their plans were made long in advance, so they got off the bus and toured the memorial. “I’m not going to enforce the no stopping or standing sign for a group of 90 World War II veterans,” said the unnamed U.S. Park Police officer who let them in. “I’m a veteran myself.”
