Saudis Reject UNSC
“Double standards” are too much to take.
Saudi Arabia has rejected its election to the UN Security Council, slamming it for “double standards” and for failing to take military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Also not surprising, the Saudis are upset that “the Palestinian cause [remains] without a fair and permanent solution,” though it’s hard to imagine the UN being more anti-Israel. As for the Security Council, giving Russia and China permanent veto powers renders other member nations nearly irrelevant anyway, so we can’t blame the Saudis for that. Remind us again why the U.S. spends so much to fund this worthless world organization…
