Teachers Union Wins Firing Case
For the children.
Score one for the Wisconsin teachers union. A former seventh-grade science teacher at Glacier Creek Middle School won his job back in an arbitration hearing thanks to backing from the union. The teacher was fired in 2010 for receiving and viewing pornography. But not only was he reinstated (at a different middle school); he’ll also get nearly $200,000 in back pay, on top of the nearly $1 million the district spent defending its action in firing him. Just remember, it’s “for the children.”
