Still harping on “equal pay.”
Barack Obama’s weekly address Saturday focused on the bogus issue of “equal pay” for women. But Obama is making a campaign issue of it, saying, “You see, the average woman who works full-time in America earns less than a man – even when she’s in the same profession and has the same education. That’s wrong. In 2014, it’s an embarrassment.” What’s an embarrassment is that he continues repeating lies for political gain. As we’ve explained, once a complete set of factors are considered, pay is virtually equal between the sexes for the same job. And as the Heritage Foundation notes, “If we look at Census Bureau data, we find that while men’s wages have risen by about 6 percent in real terms since 1980, women’s wages have risen by about 60 percent. Any gap in pay – real or imagined – is rapidly shrinking.” But never let facts get in the way of a good campaign narrative.
