CA Gun Permit Apps Skyrocket
After Ninth Circuit ruling.
Earlier this year, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Second Amendment, even for residents of the People’s Republic of California. The Court ruled that the state’s law requiring an approved reason for a concealed carry license was unconstitutional. The ensuing flood of applications – 4,000 in Orange County alone – has necessitated additional hiring by the government to handle demand. Yet there’s still a 30-month wait for the requisite interview. This is good and bad news for gun owners in the Golden State: You can get a permit, but it’ll be 2017 or later. Also, the case might be taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court, where we hope the Second Amendment can pull off another win.
