20% of Families Jobless
Startling statistics from BLS.
The growth in the dependency state and the anemic Obama recovery have resulted in a startling number of families with no working household members. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that 16 million out of 80 million American families, or 20%, had “no family member employed” last year. This percentage remained unchanged from 2012. As a disclaimer, retired couples are included in the tally. Regardless, this statistic marks the third straight year above 20% (20.2% in 2011, 20% in 2012 and 2013), all of which have come under Obama’s presidency when a disproportionate number of Americans either gave up looking for work and left the workforce altogether or took advantage of the welfare state.
