Bridge Over Troubled Waters
Christie is saved by a cold.
New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie says the scandal over his staff closing a portion of the George Washington Bridge will be “a footnote” in his record. “I understand the circus that this becomes,” he said. “You get 61% of the vote in a blue state in November, and then all of the sudden a couple of staff people do something they shouldn’t have done. I fire them. And all the sudden this becomes the biggest story in the country for a couple of months.” Footnote or no, Bridgegate embodies government cronyism and blatant disregard for the common citizen. On a related note, Christie faced a close call at the 9/11 Museum dedication when the singer scheduled to perform after his speech came down with a cold. The Associated Press reported Idina Menzel, the singer of Frozen’s “Let It Go,” was scheduled to sing “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” but was replaced by another performer singing “Amazing Grace.” How appropriate.
