To the dismay of New York City’s nanny-crats, the New York State Court of Appeals killed the Big Apple’s soda ban, which prohibited the sale of soda in containers larger than 16 ounces. The New York Times reported, “The state’s highest court on Thursday refused to reinstate New York City’s controversial limits on sales of jumbo sugary drinks, exhausting the city’s final appeal and handing a major victory to the American soft-drink industry, which bitterly opposed the plan. Pigott Jr. of the New York State Court of Appeals wrote that the city’s Board of Health ‘exceeded the scope of its regulatory authority’ in enacting the proposal, which was championed by former Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg.” However, the decision gave soda-Nazis a way to regulate freedom-loving soda-guzzlers if they ban soda through city council, instead of NYC’s Board of Health. Seeing how they view companies like Coca-Cola and Pepsi as predatory marketers whose products bring obesity and diabetes, expect to hear of another ban in the future. More…
