Obama Used USAID to Undermine Cuban Government
In April, the Associated Press unveiled a secret United States program to create a social media platform in Cuba to undermine its communist government. In Spanish, it was called “ZunZuneo,” and the Twitter-like platform was designed to get around the Cuban censors to spread ideas of Liberty and democracy. But in another story out this week, The Associated Press reports it was never just a social media project. Using USAID, the U.S. government hired Latin Americans to go into Cuba with minimal training to recruit political activists. In a statement to AP, USAID said, “USAID and the Obama administration are committed to supporting the Cuban people’s desire to freely determine their own future. USAID works with independent youth groups in Cuba on community service projects, public health, the arts and other opportunities to engage publicly, consistent with democracy programs worldwide.” While Liberty is a noble pursuit, the program was another faulty, Obama-administration program.
