Is Israeli-U.S. Relationship Cooling?
Israel seems to have a new best friend and it’s not the U.S., but Egypt. The U.S. watched from the outside as Israel and Egypt hammered out the most recent cease-fire by themselves. Granted, the last two secretaries of state for the U.S. have not done any favors for Israel. Hillary Clinton forged the deal that gave Hamas the supplies to build the tunnels, and John Kerry, after calling Israel an apartheid state, failed once again to get a peace deal. The Wall Street Journal reports, “The Obama administration knew from Palestinian contacts earlier this week that representatives of Israel, Egypt and the Palestinians were working on a new cease-fire proposal but didn’t know details because they were left largely out of the discussions. Key American officials said they first heard about the breakthrough from Twitter and the media, rather than from their Israeli or Egyptian counterparts.” Oh that’s cold – and troubling. America’s strongest ally in the Middle East just unfriended the U.S. of A on Facebook. More…
