As the situation in Iraq escalates, Barack Obama in taking action with the approval of $10 million to help destroy terrorist cells … in Africa. “President Barack Obama on Monday directed $10 million in emergency Pentagon spending to help France fight terrorists in northwest Africa,” reports the Associated Press. According to Obama, “[A]n unforeseen emergency exists that requires immediate military assistance to France in its efforts to secure Mali, Niger, and Chad from terrorists and violent extremists.” Islamic Jihadis pose an imminent threat around the world, and the U.S. should help France terminate the threat. But Obama’s signing off on emergency funding to annihilate terrorists in Africa while merely dropping a few bombs on the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – the equivalent of a drive-by shooting – is a bizarre move. Many fear the auxiliary measures in Iraq are too little, too late when we could clearly do more to repel ISIL. However further aggression risks alienating constituents and, unfortunately, that’s the only strategy at the top of Obama’s priority list. More…
