Sharpton: Michael Brown Was Shoplifting, Not Robbing

Race baiter Al Sharpton chastised the Ferguson police department Sunday for making public a video purportedly showing Michael Brown robbing a convenience store just before his death. “I have never in all my years seen something as offensive and insulting as a police chief releasing a tape of a young man trying to smear him before we even have his funeral or his burial,” Sharpton explained. Putting the dubious “smear” allegation aside, why couldn’t Sharpton wait until after Brown’s burial before rushing to the scene with premature charges of racism? “First of all, if this is the young man [in the video], y'all quit trying to exaggerate,” Sharpton continued. “That was shoplifting, not robbery. … Robbery, you break in, stick something [sic] up. Shoplifting, you take some cigars. It’s wrong if he did it, but call it what it is.” Ah, suddenly details matter. On that note, Breitbart points out that, according to Missouri Revised Statutes 570.030, “Shoplifting is punished as stealing in Missouri. Stealing consists of taking property that belongs to another person, without the person’s consent, or by means of deceit or coercion, and with the intention of depriving that person of the property.” That law’s surely racist too.
