Department of Labor Accused of Wasteful Spending
The people in the Department of Labor seem to be rolling in the dough – of everyone else’s labor. It produces and in-house magazine called Frances Mag that runs stories like “Is there anything OSHA inspectors won’t eat?” (Suddenly we’re curious) and spends $2,637 a week designing and updating the posters inside the department’s elevators. The department even ran a book club that cost $100,000 a year to run. In a letter to the department, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) wrote, “If this information is accurate, it raises serious questions about the lack of internal agency spending controls in a time of considerable budget constraints.” This begs the question: Were employees at the Department of Labor working, or partying?
