Nine-Year-Old Shoots Instructor With Uzi
A nine-year-old girl lost control of an automatic, 9mm Uzi she was shooting at an Arizona gun range and killed the instructor standing beside her. The girl visited Burgers and Bullets, a tourist destination near Las Vegas where visitors could eat hamburgers and shoot weaponry such as Barrett .50 Caliber Sniper Rifles, World War II-era machine guns and the firearms used in movies like “Terminator” and “Rambo II.” The Wall Street Journal said the incident raised questions on the appropriateness of allowing a child to operate a gun designed for an Israeli commando. The gun-shy crowd will advocate for some kind of law to capitalize off the breakdown of gun safety surrounding the incident, and shame on them for leveraging an accident that left a man dead and a girl traumatized. Of course it’s questionable to let a child operate a machine gun – no matter what the warlords in Africa think. But common sense rules gun safety – not legislation.
