Afghan President Attacks U.S. Foreign Policy
In his farewell address, Afghan President Hamid Karzai took a parting shot at American foreign policy in Afghanistan. After years of war, of Americans fighting the Taliban and dying to rid the world of terror, Karzai said, “America did not want peace for Afghanistan, because it had its own agendas and goals here. I have always said this: that if America and Pakistan want peace, it is possible to bring peace to Afghanistan.” He continued, “This war is for the personal interest of the foreign policies of others, and this is a fight of outsiders in which Afghans are sacrificed.” Hopefully his successor is wiser than advocating for a drastic pullout in the blind rush for peace.
