The Name of the Man Who Shot Bin Laden Is…
He had three movies made of his exploits. He took part in the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips when Phillips was captured by Somali pirates. He helped rescue fellow SEAL Marcus Luttrell, whose story was told in the movie “Lone Survivor.” Oh, and he shot Osama bin Laden. He is the Most Interesting American Soldier in the World. And his name is Rob O'Neill. Special Forces blog SOFREP preemptively named O'Neill ahead of a Fox News interview as the man who placed the fatal rounds into the head of bin Laden. We’re still not quite sure why O'Neill decided to disclose his identity, though the UK Daily Mail says O'Neill is speaking because the Navy denied him health benefits after leaving the force. Naval Special Warfare Command says O'Neil and any member of the SEAL community who talks of his exploits are violating the SEAL way by boasting about their actions.
