Darren Wilson to Resign From Ferguson PD
Soon after the grand jury decides whether officer Darren Wilson will be indicted with the charge of murdering Michael Brown, Wilson will retire from the Ferguson, Missouri, police force. He is currently negotiating a resignation with the department. “Wilson has told associates he would resign as a way to help ease pressure and protect his fellow officers,” CNN reports. “Wilson has expressed concern about resigning while the grand jury was hearing evidence for fear it would appear he was admitting fault.” According to Ed Krayewski of Reason Magazine, the Ferguson riots could have been eased if the police department severed employment with Wilson earlier, but public service jobs are not like private business, where employment can be ended over employee conduct that can damage the appearance of the company.
