Social Security Could Bite the Dust Within a Decade

The Heritage Foundation has published a handy graph that illustrates with alarming degree just how quickly Social Security is going bankrupt. And it may be just a decade away from insolvency. According to a new study by Heritage Foundation fellow James M. Roberts, “If the trend since 1983 continues, the program will become insolvent in 2024 – 34 years earlier than originally projected.” Lawmakers could only continue kicking the can down the road for so long, and, like America’s other fiscal woes, leaving the dirty work to future generations is no longer an option.
