Year-Over-Year Deportations Down Significantly
Millions of illegal immigrants are on the verge of attaining legal status in the United States thanks to Barack Obama’s executive amnesty. The reason for the unilateral decision, the president says, is that America can longer wait for Congress to reform our broken immigration system. The irony, however, is that the country would have far fewer illegals to accommodate if the Border Patrol would simply follow existing law and send all immigrants apprehended at the border back to their countries of origin. That’s not the case, and the trend is going in the wrong direction. The Los Angeles Times reports, “Immigration agents removed 315,943 people in the year that ended Sept. 30, a 14% drop and the lowest total since President Obama took office, according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement draft report obtained by the Los Angeles Times. About two-thirds were sent back to their home countries after being caught at the border. Those removals were down 9% from 2013, the report said.” The massive surge of illegals from Central America has exacerbated the situation along our southern border, which, also ironically, is tied to Obama’s policies.
