Stymieing ISIL
ISIL’s advance across the deserts of Iraq and Syria has been halted, and the United States is taking credit. Amazing too, because the Obama administration said it didn’t require any boots on the ground to do it. Magic! Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby said, “We’ve had a dramatic effect on their ability to get revenue from oil. … We know we’ve destroyed hundreds and hundreds of vehicles, artillery positions, checkpoints. We know that we’ve killed hundreds of their forces, and we know simply by virtue of where they are on the map and how little they are moving now that we have blunted the momentum that they once enjoyed.” When the tides of war turned against ISIL – bombing them to Hades can do that – the jihadis began infighting, which has slowed their advance. If U.S. strategy is successful, don’t think for a minute Obama won’t take all the credit. If not, others will take the blame. More…
