Two Fraternities Resist UVA’s Draconian Anti-Rape Rules

While the chapter of Phi Kappa Psi at University of Virginia is cooperating with every demand the university asks of the fraternity, two other Greek organizations are resisting the college’s administration. Phi Kappa Psi was recently cleared from the false accusation reported by Rolling Stone that its members gang raped a student. The local police department declared the accusation false, but that didn’t stop the university’s president from suspending Greek life because of a “rape epidemic” and requiring all frats to sign a new Fraternity Operating Agreement that erodes the rights of student organizations. Fraternities Alpha Tau Omega and Kappa Alpha released similar press releases that read, “Because we do not accept the validity of a suspension imposed in contravention of the existing FOA, university policy, Virginia law and the constitutional rights of our members, we are not compelled to sign a revised FOA to continue operations on campus.” At least two fraternities are resisting the college administration’s erosion of its student’s rights based solely off a feminist myth.
