No, Obama, There Is No Peace in Ukraine

If the White House had an iota of sense when it came to foreign policy, it would fire the intern that fact checked Obama’s speech. During his State of the Union address, Barack Obama took credit for peace in Ukraine saying that because of U.S. sanctions Russia could no longer bully its small neighbor. “That’s how America leads – not with bluster, but with persistent, steady resolve,” Obama said. But there’s one small detail: Violence has once again erupted and U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove publicly contradicted the commander in chief. The NATO commander told reporters Thursday, “Violence has intensified and changed character in Ukraine. … What we do see is that the Russian-backed forces have renewed capability now to bring pressure on the Ukrainian forces, and have in several places moved the line of contact to the west.” Breedlove added NATO intelligence has detected air defense and electronic warfare systems – indicators that Russian troops may be in Ukraine. But now that Obama has declared peace, will he do the actions necessary to stand up to Russia?
