Clinton’s Stance on Same-Sex Marriage Is Like Most Democrats
This year, Hillary Clinton says same-sex marriage is a constitutional right. Just to make sure you understand, she is not running on the views she held during her 2008 campaign when she said she believed in civil unions. And she’s definitely not the same woman who was married to that president who signed the Defense of Marriage Act. “I’m glad Secretary Clinton’s come around to the right positions on these issues,” possible Democrat presidential primary candidate Martin O'Malley said to lampoon Clinton. “I believe that we are best as a party when we lead with our principles and not according to the polls. And every election is about the future. And leadership is about making the right decision, and the best decision before sometimes it becomes entirely popular.” O'Malley stands to the left of Clinton, and Bloomberg Politics writes that he is trying to position himself as a principled (ahem), far-left politician in the Democrat field.
