Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane Finally Got Those Duke Boys
As we noted yesterday, you can still buy Communist and Nazi items all over the place, even as Confederate flags are stripped from the shelves. But after the murders in Charleston, our nation can finally begin to heal because Warner Brothers has announced it is canceling any licensing for “Dukes of Hazzard” toys with the flag. In a statement, the company said, “Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the Confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the [‘Dukes of Hazzard’] TV series. We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.” Well, dang nabbit. Bo and Luke Duke were, as the balladeer once sang in the opening credits, “Just the good ole’ boys, Never meanin’ no harm,” but we guess Boss Hogg and his bumbling Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane are bursting with pride and running that iconic Dodge Charger into a barricade. “Someday the mountain might get ‘em,” the balladeer sang, “but the law never will.” No, in the end, it was political correctness.
What’s next, “Gone With the Wind”?
Perhaps, but first Apple has to ban the flag in Civil War games. Insanity prevails.
