Hillary Clinton’s Wage Gap Problem
“It is the ultimate in political hypocrisy.”
Hillary Clinton’s problem with wage inequality has followed her into her campaign. The Democrat candidate for president has railed against gender income inequality, often repeating the phony statistic that women earn 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. In any case, you’d think the politician would practice what she preaches, making sure that pay would be equal between the sexes for the people working on her campaign. But according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis, Clinton pays her women staffers 88 cents to every dollar a male staffer earns. This is an improvement to the wage gap when Clinton was a New York senator. In 2005, women working for Clinton earned 72 cents for every dollar. “It is the ultimate in political hypocrisy when pay gap activists like Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton lecture us about gender pay disparities, but yet have glass ceilings in their own organizations,” said Mark Perry, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. Clinton is not the only leftist who can’t practice what she preaches when it comes to wage policy. Socialist Bernie Sanders preaches a minimum wage hike to $15-an-hour, yet he only pays his staffers $12.
