Trump Attempts to Become Everyone’s Candidate

He’s not interested in taking an ideological stand in his campaign.

Donald Trump’s recent media appearances signal that he’s not interested in taking an ideological stand in his campaign. During the Republican debate last Saturday, Trump rolled out rhetoric any leftist would love about George W. Bush’s legacy. Namely, Bush had to have known about the attack beforehand, and there were no WMDs in Iraq. And we criticized Obama for running against Bush’s legacy in 2012 — Trump is doing it four years later.

On Wednesday, the real estate mogul appeared on a joke of a town hall event at none other than the bastion liberal media, MSNBC. The Leftmedia wasn’t there to criticize the man’s conservative values. No, Jon Nocosia wrote at Mediate that the event “played more like a 48-minute infomercial for the real estate magnate.”

MSNBC’s audience is mostly liberal, as the Pew Research Center reported in 2012 that only 16% of its audience is Republican. “He admitted that what he’s doing here is going for crossover votes,” talk show host Rush Limbaugh said. “He’s proud of it. He’s gonna have more independents. He’s gonna have more Democrats, and he’s gonna have more states that normally go Democrat, vote Republican.” For Trump to get those crossover votes, he has to make known that he’s more populist than conservative. For example, he does not deny that his health care plan is as progressive as Bernie Sanders. This is why he’s dangerous to Liberty.
