Hillary’s Blaming Bernie

“His attacks caused lasting damage … paving the way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ campaign.”

Next stop on Hillary Clinton’s blame train: Bernie Sanders. That’s right — having blamed James Comey, Russia and misogyny for her November defeat, Clinton has now moved on to blaming the man she vanquished in the Democrat primary. Another excerpt of her upcoming book, “What Happened,” has leaked, and it’s the usual fare:

“Because we agreed on so much, Bernie couldn’t make an argument against me in this area of policy, so he had to resort to innuendo and impugning my character,” Clinton wrote. “[H]is attacks caused lasting damage … paving the way for Trump’s ‘Crooked Hillary’ campaign.”

So Trump’s insults were Bernie’s fault! Who knew?

Sanders’ habit of one-upping her progressive dreams also made her look bad, she groused. Reason’s Ed Krayewski sets it up: “In an excerpt tweeted by a supporter ahead of the book’s release, Clinton compared Sanders to the deranged hitchhiker in There’s Something About Mary whose get-rich-quick scheme involves cribbing the famous ‘eight minute abs’ program with his own ‘seven minute abs.’ Ben Stiller, who picks him up, points out that nothing’s stopping him from cutting it down to six-minute abs.”

“On issue after issue,” Clinton complained of Sanders, “it was like he kept proposing four-minute abs, or even no-minute abs. Magic abs!”

But it wasn’t just Sanders who draws Clinton’s ire, it was Barack Obama. “My team kept reminding me that we didn’t want to alienate Bernie’s supporters,” she grumbled. “President Obama urged me to grit my teeth and lay off Bernie as much as I could. I felt like I was in a straitjacket.”

She may have felt the straitjacket, but she was a terrible candidate who should have been wearing handcuffs. And that right there is the biggest reason she lost.
