Social Justice Glides Into the Olympics

LGBT agendas and race-bait rhetoric permeate the Olympics because leftists see social justice is our top priority.

Here in the U.S., virtually every sport has been infiltrated by political correctness. It’s the fault of both the front offices and their players. Sadly, social justice campaigns — whether it be from LGBT agendas or race-bait rhetoric — have also permeated the Olympics, an event in which Americans expect patriotism to rise above politics, just like they did with all sporting events before they were hijacked by social justice warriors. In a rational world, playing for one’s country should transcend personal animosities. That’s no longer the case.

Olympians Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon are both homosexual athletes who, for purposes of grandstanding, are flaunting their gender disorientation pathology. Rippon, a figure skater, recently pouted, “I don’t think the current administration represents the values that I was taught growing up. Mike Pence doesn’t really stand for anything that I believe in.” He also stated, “To stand by some of the things that Donald Trump has said and for Mike Pence to say he’s a devout Christian man is completely contradictory. If he’s okay with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called ‘s—holes,’ I think he should really go to church.”

Kenworthy, a freestyle skier, likewise interjected politics. He opined, “[Pence] seems like such a strange choice. To have somebody leading the delegation that’s directly attacked the LGBTQ community, and a Cabinet in general that just sort of stands against us and has tried to do things to set us back, it just seems like a bad fit.” And on Friday, he condescendingly wrote on Instagram: “The #OpeningCeremony is a wrap and the 2018 Winter Olympic Gaymes [his wording] are officially under way! [sic] I feel incredibly honored to be here in Korea competing for the US and I’m so proud to be representing the LGBTQ community alongside this amazing guy! Eat your heart out, Pence.”

For the record, Pence was far more gracious toward Rippon. He tweeted, “I want you to know we are FOR YOU. Don’t let fake news distract you. I am proud of you and ALL OF OUR GREAT athletes and my only hope for you and all of #TeamUSA is to bring home the gold. Go get ‘em!” No doubt he would say the same thing to Kenworthy.

Meanwhile, another Olympian and speed skater, Shani Davis, pulled out the race card after pitching a hissy fit when he didn’t win the flag-carrying honors. As he explained it: “I am an American and when I won the 1000m in 2010 I became the first American to 2-peat in that event. Team USA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. I can wait until 2022.” His tweet invoked the Black History Month hashtag to suggest racism was at play. Well, if we’re going to play that game, the winner — Erin Hamlin — could just as easily claim that Davis’ quibble constitutes sexism and misogyny.

To quote a popular phrase these days: “This is why we can’t have nice things.” Political correctness has infested literally everything we hold near and dear. We’ve come a long way since the 1980 “Miracle on Ice.” Then, America was united against the communist Soviets. Today’s leftists nod approvingly of Kim Jong-un’s murderous sister because, in their minds, social justice is our No. 1 priority. Sports is not the uniter it once was.
