Leftmedia Trump Derangement Syndrome
Check out the reporting on Abu Bakr al Baghdadi's death to see some examples.
The Washington Post has a fairly new “motto,” if that’s the right word to use. It is “Democracy dies in Darkness.” I guess that’s why they had this bland description of the world’s worst terrorist leader killed by U.S. Special Op’s soldiers: The headline read “Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State, dies at 48.”
The first thing I did was check to be sure this wasn’t a post from The Onion or The Babylon Bee, both satire sites; but it was not. It didn’t take long for the moral outrage that ensued to cause that headline to be changed. If you didn’t know who this monster was, you might have thought he passed away in his sleep, and at such a young age.
This mass murderer placed two of his wives, both wearing suicide vests, between him and U.S. special operators. Both were killed before they could detonate their vests. Then he took three of his own children as human shields and detonated his suicide vest, killing himself and his children as American forces closed in. Like Osama bin Laden, he died a coward.
Who was al-Baghdadi? He was a murderer, serial rapist, and the leader of ISIS and the “caliphate” across Syria and Iraq. He produced a reign of terror until President Donald Trump took the gloves off of our military and dismantled it.
We have short memories because all of the newspaper space and airtime is taken up with secret, closed-door impeachment hearings. You may have forgotten Kayla Mueller, a humanitarian aid worker who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by al-Baghdadi. Her “crime” was working with Doctors Without Borders helping victims in Syria. Don’t forget American journalist James Foley who was captured and killed by ISIS terrorists under al-Baghdadi. So, you have to excuse me when I was shocked by the headline referring to him as a “austere religious scholar.”
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand why they went out on a limb to downplay his death at the hands of American troops. To say anything else might appear to give President Trump a victory. That can’t happen. But many of us remember the media accolades when bin Laden was killed. The whole country rejoiced when he was killed. We gave President Obama the credit for making the right call. Yes, it’s true he made the Seal Team wait 19 hours while he waffled back and forth. But he did finally make the call; the call Joe Biden told him not to make, just for the record.
I’ve said this before; President Trump has flaws, as do all of us. But to let your hatred toward him so blind you that you refuse to acknowledge anything good he does as president is the very proof “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is real.
I did not vote for Barack Obama. But when he did the right thing and made the right call, I gave credit where credit was due. It’s about time the media in this country get some backbone and stand up and become what being a reporter or journalist really means; TRUTH TELLING. A better motto for the Post could be “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!” John 8:32. Oh, wait — that’s our motto here at The Patriot Post!
