Friday Executive Summary

More Michael Flynn drama, unemployment benefits expire, FISA errors, and more.

Above the Fold

  • So much for hoping the vindictive case against Michael Flynn couldn’t get any more theatrical. According to CNBC, “A federal appeals court on Thursday tossed out its order that a trial court judge dismiss the criminal case against former Trump national security advisor Michael Flynn, and said it will rehear arguments on the issue. The ruling is a blow to the retired Army lieutenant general and the Justice Department, which has asked the trial judge to drop the charge.” What a shame that such a brilliant patriot is being handcuffed not just by the deep state but by judicial activists.

  • “The Senate has adjourned until 3pm on Monday, as Congress failed to reach an agreement on extending extra unemployment benefits that are set to expire [today],” Axios reveals. The report adds: “Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) attempted Thursday afternoon to unanimously pass a short-term extension of the benefits at a reduced level of $200 per week, which was summarily rejected by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Schumer then attempted to pass the $3 trillion relief bill that House Democrats approved in May. That, too, was blocked and condemned by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as a ‘totally unserious proposal.’”
