America’s Momma Bears Roar the Loudest
Women are the driving force in family and community, but men had better step up.
August 18 was the 101st anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, a decision that rested in the hands of the State of Tennessee as it became the 36th state to ratify the 19th Amendment. Upon this, all American women were granted the right to vote, empowering mothers, daughters, housewives, and working women to have their voices heard at the ballot box.
Today, women continue the tradition of actively speaking out for and against values that impact the quality of life for families everywhere. With the introduction of Critical Race Theory and mask mandates in the public school system, a surge of concerned moms have taken their issues to the podium, flooding Facebook feeds and going viral.
My heart swelled with pride to witness the Hamilton County chapter of Moms for Liberty Tennessee come forward during the recent school board meetings. Week after week, this band of ladies from all walks of life — from homeschoolers to working women — pulled themselves up to the table to engage on serious matters that are certain to impact the liberties of our children. And while a handful of fathers have made their appearances, my message is a call to action for more men to stand up and follow this amazing example.
I can be a conservative while also saying that “girl power” is a real phenomenon, as my friend Robin Smith so beautifully opines. To paraphrase her great words, women are currently saving America each and every day, from within their own homes and out in the field. Day and night, these moms review school curriculums to better understand the topics our children are being exposed to, doing their due diligence to be good stewards of sound education. As a child’s first teacher, they are not only entitled but commanded to do so. The only step that would further solidify their efforts is to have the backing of the husbands and supportive men nearby. This sends a formidable message to all legislators and administrators that the American family comes first.
In contrast, there exist groups who vehemently disagree with the illustrious example of the American family, and are pressuring school systems everywhere to adopt subject matter to erode the principles that have built stronger families, students, and thus more productive citizens and better communities. So far, courageous women like those with Moms for Liberty and other groups are standing in the gap, holding the world as we know it together. To prevent them from growing weary, I call upon all men who love their country and the people within to be their strength so that our society as we know it does not collapse into the abyss of Marxism.
What does support look like? With attendance at school board meetings being overwhelmingly female, showing up would be an easy first step. Being an eyewitness to how fiercely these women fight for our God-given American rights should empower any and all men to stand by and demand change. If only more fathers and husbands could be present to see, imagine the force of nature that would be. Other methods of support come to mind — donations and assistance with the organization of grassroots events to name a few.
It’s evident that our Momma Bears take their voices seriously, resulting in compromises and real change. But in order for us to tip the scales in favor of the free nation we were promised, it’s time for our men to come to the yard and make noise.
