Democrats Tout Biden’s Two Cents
They cheered gas prices falling two cents, while the average price at the pump is $1.21 more than at this time last year.
“It’s happening!” That was essentially the message from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) when it posted a graph that upon first glance appeared to depict a significant drop in the price of gas over a one-week period. Included with the image of the graph was a message: “Thanks, Joe Biden.”
However, upon closer inspection of the graph, it quickly becomes clear that what looked like a significant drop in the price of gas at the pump turned out to be less than two cents per gallon — gas fell from $3.395 to $3.38. In other words, bupkis. At this time one year ago, the average price of gas was $2.16 per gallon.
So ridiculous was the DCCC’s post that even Leftmedia “fact-checkers” couldn’t help but wonder if it was a joke. CNN’s Daniel Dale responded, “This is parody-level misleading-with-axes stuff.” The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler observed: “What an utterly ridiculous chart. Truly dumb. Whoever is making this stuff at DCCC needs a lesson in chart-making and statistics.”
Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk joked, “It’s now 2 cents cheaper per gallon for Democrats to Gaslight us into thinking everything is great in Joe Biden’s America.”
Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) also took the opportunity to mock the “savings,” quipping: “I’ll combine the two cents I saved on gas with that 16 cents I saved on my 4th of July BBQ and put a down payment on a pack of gum. Thanks, Brandon.”
Former UN ambassador Nikki Haley added some sarcastic perspective: “So Joe Biden is responsible for a $0.02 drop in gas prices but not responsible for the 49% increase from last year’s gas prices.” And Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, cogently pointed out reality: “Joe Biden cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline and gas prices have risen more than 50% since December 2020. But Democrats are demanding that you thank him for saving you two whole cents.”
Maybe the DCCC should refrain from celebrating Biden saving Americans money until he actually does. Of course, that would require Biden reversing course on nearly all of his policy decisions, which play an outsized role in the spike in cost of living.
The reality is that Biden and the Democrat Party don’t really want low gas prices, as demonstrated by their ecofascist policy goals. They want everyone driving electric vehicles or not at all. Limiting ease of mobility for the unwashed masses appears to be the design, all in the name of saving the planet.
