Fox News Continues to Dominate, But…
The latest cable news ratings are in and Fox News continues to lead the pack.
The most recent cable news ratings are in and once again Fox News continues to dominate the ratings. The pummeling is thorough, but is it really enough to balance the scales?
Fox lapped up the top 10 most watched cable news shows and pulled in 97 of the 100 most-watched telecasts this past month. From 5 p.m. to midnight, Fox News shows draw more viewers than all other cable news channels, with Fox’s number one show, “The Five,” drawing an average 3,600,000 viewers.
What’s clear is that when it comes to the cable news channel, no other network comes close to the viewership numbers that Fox enjoys. As such, with Fox News’s clearly right-leaning bias, and its cable news leading viewership numbers, it would be easy to assume Fox is the most influential news outfit in America.
In one sense, that may indeed be true. In conservative cable news, besides Fox News, there are really only NewsMax and One America News Network (which was recently dropped by DirectTV). Neither comes close to other networks in the ratings. On the Left, even when combined, CNN and MSNBC viewership totals fall short of Fox News’s numbers. And when it comes to total online engagement, Fox News Digital also bests all other news media organizations.
This may be all good news for conservatives, but the trouble is that when it comes to mainstream media and Leftmedia versus Right-leaning news outlets, those on the Left are still accumulating the lion’s share of Americans’ overall attention. And this for the simple fact that there are many more well-established Leftmedia news outlets than there are conservative ones.
On top of this, Big Tech actively favors Leftmedia news sources over and against conservative ones. A week doesn’t go by without another a conservative media figure or outlet being censored by social media for daring to go against the Leftmedia’s dominant cultural dogma. Just imagine how much worse shape the country would be in if Fox News never existed, if there were no major media organization on the Right that was able to get the news out to the American people without first being filtered through the Leftmedia spin cycle. Just imagine what the electorate would look like if the mainstream media were even remotely fair.
That Fox News remains on top and continues to grow is encouraging, but so is the fact that the reach of smaller conservative media operations — like our own 25-year-old enterprise — are seeing reach grow as well.
