The premier drama queen of Congress is at it again, this time feigning being handcuffed while being led away from an abortion protest by a police officer. She gave away the game with a raised fist in solidarity with other protesters. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is nothing if not entertaining.

Even her name is phony. Born Sandy Cortez, the ostentatious former bartender decided to put a little pizazz in her brand with a name change. And the so-called “Squad” member has spent her entire congressional career so far making a spectacle of herself.

Are the shenanigans of this radical leftist the most important news today? No, but we can all use a good laugh sometimes, even if the underlying subject matter is grimly serious.

Weeks after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, pro-abortion radicals showed up outside the Supreme Court Building to clamor for abortion on demand. Once protesters obstructed traffic, U.S. Capitol Police say they “made a total of 35 arrests” including “17 Members of Congress.”

Those members included the whole Squad — AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Cori Bush, among other Democrats. ABC showed pictures of AOC and Omar being led away as if handcuffed without bothering to inform social media viewers that there were no handcuffs. If users clicked through to the story, they’d learn in the fifth paragraph that “no handcuffs were seen.”

An NBC story favorably covered Ocasio-Cortez and Omar without using the word “handcuffs” at all despite picturing both women with their hands behind her back. Numerous other Leftmedia outlets did likewise.

Can we get a “fact-checker” on the line?

Both AOC and Omar faked being handcuffed precisely for the optics in the Leftmedia. Both gave fist pumps before returning their hands to the cuffed position for no reason other than a dramatic display for the cameras. And they knew the lickspittles in the press would cover for them, especially after giving interviews from the lawn where they were escorted and given water by police.

As for Ocasio-Cortez herself, she responded to being called out for her shameless display with even more victimitis: “Republicans’ favorite hobby is to make conspiracy theories out of everything to distract you and keep you from talking about what’s actually important — which is the fact that they are trying to take away your right to bodily autonomy. If I was faking that, why would I intentionally fist pump somebody? It’s so silly.”

Maybe because she momentarily forgot she was acting for the cameras? Speaking of fist pumps, Senator Josh Hawley is old enough to remember when making that gesture before a DC crowd was very controversial.

That was The Insurrection!™, though. This is abortion “rights,” and AOC is happy to fundraise off of getting arrested and fist-pumping.

As we noted in our opening, AOC is no stranger to this sort of showmanship. There was the time she went to the border to pretend to weep in front of an immigrant detention center … which happened to be a fence in an empty lot. Or the time she barely survived the Capitol riot with her life … even though she was in a totally different building. We could go on, but just don’t parody her on Twitter or you’ll get banned.
