An Open Letter to President Obama
Mr. Obama,
You recently had the audacity (a word you favor, begging your pardon) to compare yourself to Presidents Washington and Reagan. With all due respect, sir, I’d like to bring to your attention the fundamental (another word you curry) difference between yourself and them.
I believe in President Washington because he believed in me.
He believed that I am capable of ruling myself, that I am created equal with other men in the sight of God, that our system of governance with its checks and balances was created for a moral and educated people, that our inalienable rights are given to all human beings by God and cannot be taken away by men, that government is created to protect the property of individuals not take from one and give to another.
He believed so much in me that he pledged his life, his fortune and his sacred honor to fight for the principles we believe in. He gave eight years of his life living in the most squalid conditions, inspiring a rag tag band of citizens to stand up to the greatest fighting force of the day. Afterward, resisting calls for a monarchy, he set the standard for gracious, sacrificial, and humble public service for every generation of Americans.
I believe in President Reagan because he believed in me.
He believed that I could spend my own money better than government could.
He believed that I could innovate, generate, and create ideas, services, and goods all by myself without government intervention, regulation or burdensome remuneration.
He believed and understood real evil: the oppressive nature of communism (socialism) and worked tirelessly to expose its false claims and true nature.
I believe in both of these men because they understood the enemy and fought tirelessly to preserve the things I believe in: limited government, rule of law, right to life.
I don’t believe in you because you don’t believe in me.
You didn’t believe in me when I agreed with the vast majority of Americans who sent you a clear message we don’t want nationalized healthcare, auto manufacturing, energy production or banking micromanagement.
You don’t believe that I can be responsible toward myself, my family, or my neighbor and you insist on regulating what I eat, what car I drive, what I feed my kids, how much disposable income I have to enjoy the things that I pursue for happiness.
You criticize fellow Americans for their prosperity and attempt to shame the achiever while dismissing the fact that you benefit from their innovation, creativity and wealth!
There is no evidence that you have pledged anything of value in fighting for the ideals of America. On the contrary, you and your wife conduct yourself like royalty living lavishly off the American taxpayer.
You fight tirelessly but it’s for a far different kind of America:
-Power without love
You refuse to repudiate the mob mentality of people like Jimmy Hoffa threatening to “take out” other Americans with whom you have a disagreement; or the mindless babble of the “Occupy Wall Street” mob. Or your former greens job czar Van Jones who continues to call for the “top down, bottom up, inside out” destruction of American society.
-Dependence without righteousness
With nearly half the population of the US getting some kind of government subsidy you continue to push for policies that corrupt the human spirit. By fanning the noxious flames of “class warfare” you champion the worst in civil society.
-Infatuation without devotion
Bussing demonstrators into phony events designed to destabilize, agitate, and intimidate do not inspire greatness, but merely leave the evidence of the emptiness they represent: desecrated places and traditions that ought to continue to be sacred and esteemed honoring the noble men & women who built the greatness your minions debauch.
-Shameful hypocrisy
Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, George Soros, Warren Buffet, Eric Holder, Fast & Furious, Cap & Trade, Goldman Sachs, Martha’s Vineyard, Unregulated, Unaccountable Czars, Elena Kagin, French Fries, GE-Jeffrey Imelt, Boeing, Black Panthers, ACORN, Gibson Guitars, Arizona, Attack Watch, Ground Zero…
With all frankness, Mr. Obama, there is a reason why a growing number of Americans strongly disapprove of you: WE DON’T BELIEVE IN YOU!
Sincerely,
Charlie Lyon
