Pope Benedict Resigns – an Omen?

Pope Benedict XVI has officially resigned his papacy as head of the 1.2 billion catholics worldwide, leaving many questions unanswered; mainly WHY? The last time a pope resigned was 600 years ago, so why now and might that be an omen of unforeseen consequences?

If as claimed, Benedict said he did not come down from the cross, then perhaps the opposite is true; he did voluntarily abdicate and come down from his cross that the faithful are admonished against, but constantly encouraged to bear their cross joyfully for the Lord.

Tradition  holds that St. Peter was leaving Rome to avoid being crucified and encountered Jesus walking towards Rome. St. Peter asked, “Quo vadis, Domine?” or “Where are you going, Lord?” To which Jesus replied, “To Rome, to be crucified again,” at which point St. Peter realized his mistake and turned around to return to Rome for his own crucifixion.

The Vatican denies the many rumors swirling throughout especially the Italian newspapers reporting rumors of a “gay lobby” within the Vatican. Existence of a gay lobby in the Vatican is not far fetched due to the estimated 4% base of homosexual priests who are guilty of child predator actions against defenseless young boys.

This known problem has been swept under the rug as offending clergy were secretly transferred from parish to parish in coordinated efforts by bishops to hide the tragedies. Pope Benedict says he is stepping down because he is old and tired, not because of any particular crisis.

Italian news reports painted the Vatican Curia as being more concerned with careers than serving the church or the pope. Church officials expressed distress over reports of sexual and financial Vatican Bank corruption that might lean toward election of an outsider, someone not connected with the dominantly Italian Curia, much like Barack Obama was elected President in 2008 as a DC outsider who might clean up the mess.

Complicating the papal retirement issue is the case of Paolo Gabriele, the Pope’s butler who was convicted of stealing personal papal documents leaked to the media and referred to as the “Vatileaks Scandal.” Gabriele was jailed but later pardoned by the Pope.

Explanation of some personnel transfers have been questioned but one of the more disturbing questions is why Germany did not favorably respond to Benedict’s elevation to the papacy by massively returning to the faith? Add to that the confusing and divisive decision by German bishops to approve the morning-after pill in certain cases, clearly a violation of catholic doctrine while top Vatican officials rubber-stamped this approval, calling it “exemplary,” basing their decision on the mistaken conclusion that the pills are preventative and contraceptive in nature rather than abortifacient. “Contraceptive in nature” is still against carved-in-stone catholic doctrine.

Asked whether there is a concern the drug could cause an abortion, Bishop Ignacio Carrasco de Paula who is President of the Pontifical Academy for Life is quoted as saying that “determining the pill’s abortifacient effect should be left to doctors.” With leaders like this what are the followers to do?

Carrassco went on to say, “What Church teaching says in cases of rape, all possible action must be taken to prevent a pregnancy but not to interrupt it. Whether a given medicine is classed as a contraceptive or abortion-inducing medication, is up to doctors and scientists, not the Church.”

As LifeSiteNews.com reported, Cardinal Meisner was presented with a study to convince him of the non-abortive nature of the pills, but the study was anything but objective as it was authored by a physician advisor to a pharmaceutical company that manufactures the morning-after pill.

How is it that millions of lay people know the morning-after pill can cause abortions, but the President of the Pontifical Academy does not? Something is seriously wrong about that. So if the doctors tell you the world is flat, does that mean it is flat?

The key portion of the release of the Assembly of German Bishops reads as follows:

“The plenary meeting affirmed that at Catholic hospitals, women who are victims of rape receive human, medical, psychological and pastoral help as a matter of course. This can include administration of a "morning after pill” to the extent that it has a preventative and not an abortifacient effect. Medical-pharmacological methods that cause the death of an embryo still may not be used. The German bishops trust that in Catholic institutions, practical treatment decisions will be made on the basis of these moral theological precepts. In any event, the decision of the woman concerned is to be respected.

The problem with that analysis is the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, chapter 38, verses 1-10 depicting Onan who intentionally spilled his semen on the ground preventing offspring for his childless deceased brother, after which God takes the life of Onan for "simply” spilling his seed on the ground. That narrative also backs up marriage between one man and one woman, precluding active homosexuality. Note the following verses in Genesis 38: 1-10:

1 At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a man of Adullam named Hirah.

2 There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and lay with her;

3 She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, who was named Er.

4 She conceived again and gave birth to a son and named him Onan.

5 She gave birth to still another son and named him Shelah. It was at Kezib that she gave birth to him.

6 Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

7 But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the LORD’s sight; so the LORD put him to death.

8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Lie with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother.”

9 But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother.

10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also.

Verse 2 above refers to marriage specifically, and as to gay marriage, that is a man-made gay mirage. God created them male and female and ordered all living things, man, animal, fruit, vegetable, and all others to increase and multiply, which can only be done with male/female reaction, or the seed in it. Contrary to rampant public opinion, gay marriage is not a biblical right.

Bishops have vacillated on this issue, and catholic educators of higher education are notorious for their seeming approval of LGBT on campus, and associate students with internship opportunities with organizations like Planned Parenthood that are diametrically opposed to catholic doctrine as regards abortion.

The next Pope will have his hands full and will require that God in the Holy Spirit guide his hand in so difficult a time in the new-crisis-a-day world. Man is simply not man enough to do the job without Divine Providence.

Bosses worldwide including church officials of all sects know best and the rest must be “yes-men.” Too many bosses of the world including churches are off track but financial fiscal cliffs are not so much a worry as moral cliffs that have eternal consequences, as they lead the peasants down the primrose path to eternal destruction.

The red hats ruined the US church causing at least one-third to leave, taking their contributions with them, and all kinds of good catholic churches, hospitals, schools, and charitable social works had to fold. They have done much damage and now this German prelate example is another dagger to the heart of the church and the little lemming followers. Who can be trusted when even with a German pope, Germans have not en masse returned to the faith?
