The Arrogance Has Become Surreal
Barack Obama has been an arrogant president from the day he first walked into the White House as leader of the free world in January of 2009.
He has consistently placed himself on a higher plane than all of his predecessors in that once noble office, and he has just as consistently demonized everyone who opposes his personal and political views, with no respect for his opponent’s stature or resumé .
The average American man on the street (Joe the Plumber, for example) and countless well-respected and admired allies (Benjamin Netanyahu, for example) have all felt the condescending wrath of this arrogant leader whenever they dared to question his authority or seek explanations for his oft-nebulous, ungrounded policies or viewpoints.
Our president has consistently and cavalierly ignored, and even repudiated, the United States Constitution, the most magnificent blueprint for governance ever devised by the mind of man. When it suits his purposes, the checks and balances requirement regarding the three branches of government, and the need to obtain the advice and consent of congress, find themselves treated as antiquated inconveniences.
He has prosecuted wars and deposed world leaders without even consulting, let alone obtaining the consent of, the House or the Senate. He has circumvented congress by simply instructing his agencies (the EPA, most predominantly) to author stifling regulations regarding business/industry/the environment/unions that have never passed legislative muster in congress.
He has simply ignored court orders handed down by federal judges when those orders did not further his political agenda.
He has denigrated America’s proud history and advised her people to use other nations as role models. And he has seen fit to voice this denigration, and hold other nations up as examples to which America should look for inspiration, moral guidance and leadership, while speaking on foreign soil.
He has narcissistically taken credit for the work and supreme sacrifice of countless others, most notably our successful and courageous military, especially, but not only, in accomplishing the eradication of Osama bin Laden.
This president has presented himself in dozens of photo ops in rehearsed, contemplative, savior-like poses, and his wife has proclaimed that only upon her husband’s ascension to the presidency did she first become genuinely proud of America. She also informed us that, “Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation. That you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.”
Our leader and his wife see you and me as desperately in need of Barack Obama’s commanding brilliance so that, with his savior-like example, we can somehow rise out of our zombie-like ignorance and sloth. The Obamas freely set themselves up as mentors, examples and inspirations for the medical researchers, missionaries, inner-city teachers, pastors, policemen, sports champions, engineers, scientists, financial consultants, nurses, pilots, first responders, soldiers, entrepreneurs, and all other Americans, whom they believe are desperately in need of a kick in the pants. And they believe themselves to be supremely qualified to provide it.
The predominant focus of this president’s campaign was the urgent need to fundamentally transform America. He believes that the most moral, innovative, generous and prosperous nation in the history of mankind needs to be brought to her knees and then re-cast, using his personal vision of tyrannical elitist government, doling out favors to adoring masses, as the utopian blueprint.
Setting aside all of the above, I believe we may currently be witnessing the most horrendous example of the president’s sense of self-importance in the debate regarding whether or not he has the authority to kill American citizens, without due process of law, if he deems them to be a threat.
The honorable Senator Rand Paul during this week’s senate filibuster, stated:
“When I asked the president, ‘Can you kill an American on American soil?’ it should have been an easy answer. It’s an easy question. It should have been a resounding and unequivocal ‘No’.
The president’s response? He hasn’t killed anyone yet.
We’re supposed to be comforted by that. And he goes on to say, ‘And I have no intention of killing Americans, but I might.’
Is that enough? Are we satisfied by that? Are we so complacent with our rights that we would allow our president to say he might kill Americans, but he will judge the circumstances. He will be the sole arbiter. He will be the sole decider. He will be the Executioner in Chief, if he sees fit.”
Barack Obama came into office with no more background, and no more qualifications, than having been (1) a “community organizer” ( i.e., a rabble rouser whose job it is to convince minorities and other groups to demand more federal handouts) in the most corrupt city in America, and (2) a state and federal office holder who shirked the majority of his defined duties in every office he has ever held. When serving in both the Illinois senate, and the U.S. senate, his attendance record was abysmal, and he refused to take a stand, so instead voted “present”, on many of the bills on which he actually saw fit to vote.
The president’s resumé is most likely less exemplary than that of the majority of people who are reading this commentary, in that it exemplifies little sense of duty, and little genuine accomplishment, and it reaks of laziness and self-aggrandizement.
Yet this so-called “leader” now believes he has the right to decide to kill me, or members of my family, or any of my countrymen, without any more justification than the belief that he needs to do so.
The concept of “surreal” has just taken on new evil, and historically unprecedented dimensions.
