Pope Francis: Heavy Lifting Ahead
As Cardinal, Pope Francis condemned abortion even in rape cases, saying, “A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death,” then Cardinal Bergoglio issued a defense of life even in cases of rape saying: “We aren’t in agreement with the death penalty, but in Argentina we have the death penalty. A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death.” Francis also called homosexual ‘marriage’ a ‘machination of the Father of Lies.’
Seventy-six year old Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now renamed Pope Francis, appears to be a staunch conservative with an empathy for the poor and down-trodden, is a member of the Society of Jesus, and as Jesuits are dedicated to the defense of the Pope, how will they react to Pope Francis whose views on gay marriage, abortion and other social issues define him as conservative. Selection of Pope Francis fuels liberal hopes for catholic reform to soften views on marriage, abortion, and homosexuality but that can only lead to the demise of the church.
Now the heavy lifting begins when around the world as in the US, there will be dragging of feet by the powers that be. Pope Francis will have his hands full, what with cleaning up the Augean Stables in Europe as well as in the US. As a Jesuit, Pope Francis will have to butt heads with his fellow American Jesuit intellectual leaders of about thirty catholic institutions of higher learning and many lower-level schools, whose Jesuit leaders have betrayed the faith by blatant support of abortion king Planned Parenthood and supported internships of their students with PP, funding LGBT homosexual campus activities, and sponsors of erotic plays like “The Vagina Monologues.”
Jesuit university presidents must be pulled down to earth and hopefully, Pope Francis, himself a Jesuit, may have the firepower to do just that. May the Holy Spirit guide him in battle. Jesuits, pseudo nomenclature for “the Society Of Jesus,” are also defenders of the Pope, raising questions of clout or will of the Pope in dealing with his own liberally-bent members.
What might happen when the roughly thirty Jesuits institutions of higher learning and training that share the same culture and ideals feel the boot to the throat should the Jesuit Pontiff demand compliance with absolute church teaching about the social issues of abortion, marriage, morals, and family, or lose their catholicity certification?
In the process of church reform, it must be assumed that if 4% of the American priesthood have been found to be homosexual and mainly responsible for the sexual scandals involving clergy and young boys, the same percentage no doubt applies to Jesuit clergy whose universities are liberal bastions of negative social lifestyles and dogmas of modern society that evidently knows what is best, just a bit better than God himself does.
The Superior General of the Jesuits is commonly referred to as and its Superior General is often derogatorily referred to as the “Black Pope,” and hold as one of their duties, defense and protection of the Pope. Will the rank and file line up neatly behind the supreme leader, all pulling in the same direction or might they react like spanked puppies, sulking off into corners for chewing their master’s shoes?
Satan’s worm took a bite of the church apple leaving the worm still there allowing it to contaminate as much of the rest of the barrel as possible. Now the new top dog must decide on how to purge the bad apples without ruining the rest; how not to throw out the baby with the bath water; how to accomplish that not-so-delicate surgery without killing the patient; for the surgeon not to proclaim the surgery was successful but the patient died anyway.
Catholics Christians, and the rest of the world have much at stake with Pope Francis. When should there be push and when should there be pull, or when and how does Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 apply?
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Interesting times we live in if it does not turn on us first. The Pope Francis honeymoon may be brief in these unforgiving 24/7 times when it is critical above all to maintain the biblical admonitions of God, honor the Ten Commandments, and the teaching of his divine son, Jesus Christ through his church that as promised, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Should the church fail, it simply means it is might be much past the time to repent as nothing else will be of consequence because the end is near and at hand.
When the end times threaten, Matthew 24 warns:
17 If you are on the roof of your house, do not go inside to get anything. 18 If you are out in the field, do not go back for your coat. 19 It will be a terrible time… and after Jesus left the temple, his disciples came over and said, ‘Look at all these buildings!“
Prior to that, 2 Jesus replied, "Do you see these buildings? They will certainly be torn down! Not one stone will be left in place.” 3 Later, as Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came to him in private and asked, “When will this happen? What will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the world?”
4 Jesus answered: Do not let anyone fool you. 5 Many will come and claim to be me. They will say that they are the Messiah, and they will fool many people. 6 You will soon hear about wars and threats of wars, but do not be afraid. These things will have to happen first, but that is not the end. 7 Nations and kingdoms will go to war against each other. People will starve to death, and in some places there will be earthquakes. 8 But this is just the beginning of troubles. 9 You will be arrested, punished, and even killed. Because of me, you will be hated by people of all nations. 10 Many will give up and will betray and hate each other. 11 Many false prophets will come and fool a lot of people. 12 Evil will spread and cause many people to stop loving others. 13 But if you keep on being faithful right to the end, you will be saved. 14 When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come.
What part will the predictions of Jesus play in the Francis papacy? The confounding element is that to God a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. Who can fathom the mind of God by deciphering the labyrinth of God’s creation and its intricate maze of chambers, passageways, and blind alleys constructed so as to mystify, perplex, and confuse even the Intelligentsia, Illuminati, and pretentious Academia, making egress difficult and nearly impossible for mere man to escape God’s labyrinth without his direct guidance and intervention.
The most astute demand honor for homosexual activity and gay marriage, totally ignoring the high percentage threat of the debilitating AIDS virus it enables, while decrying a simple hamburger and an accompanying sugary drink. Gay marriage, abortion, free contraceptives, and abortifacients are against nature, if not against the precepts of God, but are central to the new anti-religion of the day.
“Viva il Papa” may be short-lived as the liberal main-stream media (MSM) cranks up its bulldozers to dig for every possible negative and twist it to debunk this new vicar of Christ on earth. The MSM has been very favorable in the first half-day and the lead-in of the rein of Francis; thankful to get their own anointed one out of the negative limelight, a welcome relief, but that also will end as now the gloves will have been discarded and the real fighting begins. MSM may have willing partners with ingrained church bureaucracy that like government, fights to protect its turf.
If God and his holy word were not true, 1 Corinthians 15:32 would simply be a source for Shakespeare, “If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? "If the dead are not raised, Let us eat and drink (Shakespeare added "and be merry”) for tomorrow we die.“
